One of the most popular Fall events in Boston is happening this weekend on the Charles River, The Head of the Charles Regatta! From Saturday, October 22nd through Sunday the 23rd, over 300,000 spectators will line up along the Charles River in Boston and Cambridge to cheer on the athletes competing!
Boston’s Head of the Charles Regatta is known to be the biggest 2-day rowing event with over 11,000 athletes participating. Races on the Charles are from 8:00am-5:00pm, this the course being three miles upstream from the Boston University Boathouse to Christian Herter Park.
If you are planning on attending the Head of the Charles this weekend there are plenty of areas to watch around Boston and Cambridge! The Eliot Bridge that’s between Cambridge and Allston is a good spot because you will be able to see the rowers in action! Another good location for spectators is the Weld Exhibition that is located around the halfway mark and on the Cambridge side of the Charles River.
Besides watching the races this weekend there are plenty more activities to do! Activities include a rowing and fitness expo, delicious food vendors, and Licensed Merchandise locations to purchase souvenirs that will be around the Charles River.
